Every year hundreds of children visit St. James Cavalier for one of our innovative and exciting programmes. The educational programmes are fun, artistic and delivered by trained animators. 10 different programmes have been devised for primary and secondary school students. These include hands on storytelling, art, drama and music workshops, film screenings, science and creativity programmes. Tell Me a Story - With a Difference
Ages 4- 7
Price – € 3.25 per pupil
Duration – 2.5hrs
The story telling package has been designed in a special way to offer a different method of how to tell a story by using improvisation. Whilst the story telling session encourages children to read, the art session will help children discover their innate creativity so each session has been specially designed to stimulate dexterity, creativity and problem solving as well as team work between the children.
An Introduction to the Arts
Ages 6 - 16
Duration – 2.5hrs
Price – €3.25 per pupil
These visits aim at explaining the role of St James Cavalier from its beginning, as a war machine, to its present usage, as a centre for creativity. Besides the historical aspect, these visits include a detailed yet exciting explanation of the exhibits on show as well as an art workshop. Students will have the chance to work with artists who are exhibiting at the centre.
Arthur & The Invisibles - Literature Illustrated
Ages 8 - 11
Duration – 3 hrs

Use films to get children reading again!
St. James Cavalier Centre For Creativity is offering a film to schools based on the best selling children’s book - Arthur and the Minimoys, a story about the true meaning of courage and the endless power of imagination. The film will be followed by a workshop of practical drama exercises using improvisation - scenarios to explore, status transition and characterisation. The aim of this workshop is to show children that status doesn’t mean power.
Cool Science for Curious Kids
Ages 8 - 11
At St. James Cavalier Centre For Creativity, science is all about having fun but that's not all! Three cool, school programmes all focused on science. Our team has been trained by the London Science Museum to perform three workshops, and your school gets to choose. (Download programme to view details.)
Books In Action: Oliver Twist
Age – 9 to 12 years
Duration – 3.5 hrs
Price – €4 per pupil
St. James Cavalier Centre For Creativity is offering the motion picture ‘Oliver Twist’ directed by Roman Polanski, a film based on the classic tale by Charles Dickens. The film will be followed by a hands-on creativity session where the children will create their own Victorian times newspaper that is related to the era of the film.
The Colour of Love
Ages 8 - 11
The aim of the workshop is to have young children aware that there is a need for everyone to be part of social justice and to have their voices heard.
Walk The Plank
Ages 8 - 11
Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm
Duration: 3 hours

St. James Cavalier Centre for Creativity has a daring programme for schools. A problem solving package that has been specifically prepared for children. The main aim of this mysterious workshop is to encourage good team work and problem solving skills by tackling mind boggling and hands on tasks and games.
The Musical Gruffalo
Ages 4 - 7
St. James Cavalier is offering a musical workshop to schools titled The Musical Gruffalo. The workshop enables children to experiment with different musical instruments and their sounds.
Puppet Talk
Ages 4 - 7
Price – €3.50 per pupil
Duration – 2.5hrs
This package is all about telling an interesting story through a puppet show. The children will be guided through the story enabling them to use movements to express what they are feeling during the story. Whilst the story session encourages children to use their ideas and imagination, the art session will help children express themselves artistically.
101 Ways of Playing with Piano
Ages 8 - 11
Price - €4.00 per child
Duration - 11.30am - 1.15pm
Workshop for children with pianist, Gabi Sultana. This workshop will allow students to discover the different sounds a piano can make by experimenting with various ways of playing the piano using items such as thimbles and marbles.
