This exhibition is part of the projest entitled: CONFLUENZE MEDITERRANEE - ARTE E CONFLITTI
The project presents works by contemporary artists who have a different expression, origin and cultural background, yet are united by a strong urge to bear witness to the continuity and the contradictions that have always existed in the Mediterranean region. While constituting the core of the generator in the popular imagination of Western culture, the Mediterranean now appears to be the territory for a common and shared cultural horizon. It is also the place of unresolved conflicts, the array of expressive forms linguistically apparent that nevertheless include centrifugal tendencies, forces, disruptive and dissonant ideas
The project presents the works of two artists who have worked in this area. They have made this a vital element of their personal artistic research in both training and for artistic choice, using tools, methods and issues that are often different and conflicting. The Mediterranean is a sea that unites, but this union has always been marked by differences. Territory delines civilization, and also inevitable conflict. What role does the art have in all this? Can the arts serve as a unifying element? What are the future developments? These and other matters are what the two artists will be tackling.
The first exhibition is by Pietro Loffredo, born in Naples, where he lives and works. After traditional training at Art Institutions, he began exhibiting in prominent venues such as Venice, Rome, Bari, Florence, Naples, Monaco, Bastia. In Tunis, together with Swiss artist Rita Ernst, he took part in the project Transits by Fabio De Chirico. Between April 16 to May 7, 2008, in the museum of Amba Dar Bach, Loffredo produced works inspired from symbols such as the fish's tail, a traditional Tunisian symbol for good luck. Loffredo's work clearly defines the dialogue between the shores of the Mediterranean, where artistic and cultural relations coexist. He focuses mainly on the role of Fortune in the fate of the marginalized individual and the collective.

This exhibition will be followed by the photographic exhibition of Giovanni De Angelis
