Make room for FATBOY! Meaner than Stalin, hungrier than Idi Amin, deadlier than Pol Pot, he is the grotesque composite of every despot who ever lived...he is also savagely funny.
Ideas Alive presents Fatboy, a brutal comedy by John Clancy. Inspired by Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi, this satire on our insatiable appetites, from gobbling up 72-oz. steaks to small nations, is a highly entertaining, knockabout satire - Punch and Judy meet Saddam Hussein, the bastard child of Samuel Beckett and South Park.
It is about laughing all the way to mass destruction. The brutish Fatboy stands trial for war crimes. Despite overwhelming evidence, the court refuses to convict and succumbs to Fatboy's persuasive tactics. With Mikhail Basmadjan as Fatboy, Pia Zammit as Fudgie, and multiple parts played by Barrie Stott. Fatboy is directed by Michael Fenech.
Fat Boy won the Edinburgh Festival Fringe First Award in 2004.
