The performers:

Cliff Zammit Stevens (tenor) is currently reading for a Bachelor of Music with honours degree in Vocal studies at the coveted Royal College of Music in London. He started his vocal training at the age of 14 with renowned soprano Gillian Zammit whom he continues to study with from time to time. At the RCM Cliff studies with tenor Tim Evans-Jones.

Cliff’s latest success came earlier this year when he was chosen to represent the RCM at the prestigious Junior Ferrier Awards and successfully made it to the final round to high critical acclaim - “He has the commitment, drive and charisma to be a performer and the quality and appeal of voice to complete the essential qualities to fulfill his potential.”

Claudia Tabone (soprano) started her music education in her native Gozo at an early age and took up voice studies in Malta with mezzo-soprano Claire Massa. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Malta, she moved to Milan, Italy, to broaden her studies at the prestigious Conservatorio di Musica Giuseppe Verdi under the direction of Giovanna Canetti. Meanwhile she participated in a number of master classes in Malta and Italy with important artists and coaches such as Carlo Ventura, Daniel Lichti, Thomas Bauer and Patrizia Morandini. She currently works with opera coach Anouchka Mukherjee, with whom she is widening her varied repertoire of vocal works.

Claudia Tabone appears regularly in performance around Malta, Gozo and beyond. Her stage and concert engagements have included Verdi’s Aïda (Sacerdotessa), Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (Spirit/Woman), Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël, Brahms' Liebeslieder-Walzer, Henze's Moralities, and a number of acclaimed Lieder and art song recitals in important venues in Malta. She was also engaged to sing in a concert of promising opera singers at the Manoel Theatre's Sala Isouard, attaining a good success with public and critics alike. In May 2009, she was selected as soprano soloist for another performance of Brahms' Liebeslieder-Walzer, this time at the notable Sala Verdi of Milan's Conservatorio. Forthcoming engagements include the role of Frasquita in Bizet’s Carmen at the Aurora Opera House in October.

An established pianist on the local scene, Rosetta Debattista first came to love the Art of Accompaniment thanks to Robert Sutherland (Maria Callas' pianist) at the Royal College of Music. She has enjoyed several performing opportunities over the last twenty years since her student days. Tonight she feels privileged to accompany these young singers at the start of their own careers.

Rosetta has performed in the UK, Italy, Denmark, Germany and in Malta with Maltese and International soloists. She has played, on numerous occasions, at the President's Palace, The Manoel Theatre, San Gorg Basilica in Gozo, The Mediterranean Conference Centre and St. James' Centre for Creativity apart from regular invitations to perform at private events and embassies.

Last year Rosetta was the guest soloist in Beethoven's E flat quintet with the Cosmos Ensemble at the Manoel Theatre. In July, she featured in the Malta Arts Festival with soprano Gillian Zammit and tenor, Clifford Bechtel.
