"Images can tickle the senses, and the sights of indigenous Australians in a stunning exhibition. " EKA HRIEHWAZI
Indigenous Australians are great people with a great history and traditional cultures dating back many years. It is this rich traditional cultures that they want to promote and share with the rest of the world. Papua New Guineans have been fortunate to see many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders cultures through exhibitions at the National Museum in Port Moresby. Indigenous Australians are great painters and performers. Many of these creative talents are not hidden in Australia, but showcased throughout the world.
The 40 pieces of Kickin' Up Dust photographs to be exhibited at St James Cavalier, is a combination of photographs from four festivals in different regions of Australia. These photographs capture the spontaneous joy of performers, the revival of traditional crafts and the continuing celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
"All the photographs speak for themselves; the thriving, dynamic and relevant cultures of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It is a tradition or way of life they are always proud of because these cultures are grounded in the air they breath, the earth they walk on and the water they drink. It is their life and blood trace back many generations ago and one which they want to share with other cultures of the world." EKA HRIEHWAZI
Kickin' Up Dust is made possible with the assistance of the Australian High Commission.
